Range Rules

1. Treat all firearms as they were loaded.

2. Never point a firearm at anything that you are not willing to destroy.

3. Know your target and what is beyond your target.

4. Never pick up a weapon if you do not know how to safely handle that weapon.

5. All firearms training must be properly and adequately supervised.

6. Strictest discipline shall be maintained and carelessness shall not be tolerated.

7. Immediately on picking up a firearm, open the action and check to see that it is unloaded-- check it again.

8. Never give a firearm to, or take a firearm from anyone unless the magazine is out and the action of the weapon is open.

9. No loaded weapons behind the firing line.

10. Be sure there is no obstruction in the barrel of a firearm before loading.

11. Load the weapon only after position is taken at the firing line.

12. Be sure your weapon is unloaded before you leave the firing line.

13. Keep your firearm pointed down range at all times.

14. Never place your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

15. In case the weapon fails to fire, stay in place, keep the weapon pointed down range and notify a River Road Range Instructor, Range Safety Officer or your Firearms Instructor.

16. Never go in front of the firing line until it has been cleared by a River Road Range Instructor, Range Safety Officer or your Firearms Instructor.

17. No live ammunition shall be permitted in the dry fire area.

18. Safety eyewear shall be worn by all persons while on the firing line, during cleaning of the firmarm and in the cleaning area.

19. Hearing protection shall be worn by all persons while on the firing line and in the safe zone.

20. A hat shall be worn by all persons while on the firing line.

21. No Flip Flops, Sandles or any open toe shoe shall be permitted on the firing line.

22. No one shall clean their weapon(s) while on the firing line.

23. Only weapons with factory ammunition shall be permitted on River Road Range.

24. No alcoholic beverages or controlled substance allowed on River Road Range property.

25. River Road Range reserves the right to stop all firing upon the range at anytime.

26. River Road Range reserves the right to correct any unsafe behavior.

27. River Road Range reserves the right to remove anyone, at anytime for failure to abide by range rules, regulations or guidelines, unsafe weapons handling or misconduct from the premises.    

Law Enforcement/ Military Rules

1. River Road Range rules, regulations and guidelines shall be abided by.

2. All Officers under and during firearms training upon a live fire exercise shall wear a bulletproof vest. To waive the rule, each Officer shall supply a copy of their medical release form to River Road Range or their supervisor shall sign a release form for that Officer to train without a bulletproof vest.

3. Training with any motor vehicle upon the range floor, you shall not spin tires. Anyone who does so shall be fined $25.00 per foot. Payment of the fine shall be paid prior to leaving River Road Range.

4. Once firearms training is over, the Agency/ Officer(s) shall pick up all spent cartridges (brass) from the range floor prior to leaving.

5. Upon use of the Charging Target System (CTS), all Officers not firing shall stay in the safe zone.

6. Upon use of the steel targets (Pepper Poppers, etc), all Officers must stand all targets back in the upright position for the next wave of fire.
